Today the Camp Sunnies team is proud to spotlight Buddy System, a nonprofit partner we've had the privilege of working closely with over the past year.

About two years ago, Sophie Ice had the thought that there needs to be a show that tells of the trials and tribulations of being a camp counselor. It should be funny, heartfelt, outlandish, but most importantly it should feel real. Every camp counselor should be able to watch it and feel seen. Thus, Buddy System was born. Buddy System is a mockumentary style show about the staff at the fictional "Camp Monroe" and how their interactions with their campers, their zany boss, and most importantly each other change the course of the rest of their lives.

Sophie started going to camp when she was 12 years old and was a staff member for 4 years. Being a camp counselor brought Sophie her favorite memories and best friends. What makes their bond so special are the shared experiences no one else can understand. The goal of the show is to take the experiences Sophie and countless other counselors have experienced and turn it into something everyone can enjoy. The plot is engaging, funny, and there is never a dull moment. The characters are full of life as it takes a special kind of person to decide they want to spend their summer chasing around children in the blazing heat, running on little sleep and a dangerous amount of caffeine. But the most important aspect of the show is the portrayal of people from different backgrounds coming together for a common goal. It is about being a part of something bigger than yourself.

As this show is being produced independently, the production team has relied on crowdfunding and brand deals to secure the funds needed for production. It will cover renting gear, insurance, securing set locations, paying the crew, costuming, makeup, and much more. Sophie and her production team are so grateful for their partnership with Camp Sunnies and the support they have given over this year to help bring the show to life. The pilot episode is scheduled to be filmed in April 2027 and released later that year.
